Software Development Manager, Internal Development Tools, Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX)

The Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) team is looking for a talented Software Development Manager with an eye for creating compelling UX and tools for software developers. Come join the team to improve the overall software development lifecycle at Amazon

ASBX has a mission to make Amazon the best place to be a software builder. It was established in 2022 bringing together existing and new teams with a focus on modernizing processes and tools.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Own the customer intake, planning, development, release, and operations of web sites and tools that support the software development lifecycle.
  2. Create longer-term visions and roadmaps for your team and to inform the broader organizational goals.
  3. Collaborate with other managers, UX designers, product managers, and UX researchers to help create customer-obsessed solutions by sharing your insights.
  4. Be a strategic partner by becoming a domain expert within the software builder experience.
  5. Be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  2. 7+ years of engineering experience.
  3. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
  4. Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  5. Experience in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between.
  6. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  7. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
  8. Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
