Position Summary: The Emergency Services Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a given population based upon age specific and cultural needs. This is done in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach embracing quality and safety and providing physical and psychological support along the healthcare continuum.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  2. Documents patient care given.
  3. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  4. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  5. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  6. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  7. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  8. Performs triage while considering both physical and psychosocial elements.
  9. Reports any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies.
  10. Adheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substances regulations.
  11. Maintains competency and knowledge through current standards of practice, trends and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
  12. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited and approved nursing program.

Minimum Work Experience: One (1) year emergency room experience is required; two (2) years of experience for Charge Nurse role.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse license in good standing (Arizona, United States). Multi-state licensure accepted.

Required Skills:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
