Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a fully remote setting, utilizing a telehealth model that allows for flexibility and accessibility in providing care. As part of the telehealth facility, you will have the opportunity to leverage digital tools and platforms to conduct therapy sessions, engage with patients, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the unique needs and challenges of older adults.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that consider cognitive changes, physical health, and social factors affecting patient well-being.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy, and crisis intervention.
- Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and cohesive patient care.
- Offer crisis support and interventions during mental health emergencies, working closely with elderly patients in distress.
- Educate patients and their caregivers about mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources to empower informed decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in line with both legal and ethical standards.
- Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, and professional development initiatives.
- Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry, integrating new knowledge into your practice.
This role specifically targets the geriatric population, addressing complex mental health needs that arise as individuals age. You will work with patients experiencing a range of psychiatric conditions such as late-life depression, anxiety disorders, dementia, and other adjustment disorders. Your ability to connect with elderly clients and their families is crucial, as many patients may face challenges related to cognitive decline or social isolation.
Qualifications- A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid licensure as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Texas.
- Strong understanding of geriatric mental health issues, along with effective communication skills to engage with an elderly clientele.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, utilizing telehealth technologies effectively.
- Previous experience working with the geriatric population, particularly in a mental health capacity.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices and digital therapeutic tools.
- Experience in developing treatment plans that address the cognitive, emotional, and social complexities related to aging.
