Our client is seeking to add a Workers’ Compensation Claims Team Lead to their Maryland office. This person would be responsible for overseeing a team of 3-4 Claims Examiners handling moderate to complex Maryland Workers’ Compensation claims including medical only and lost time claims. Responsibilities of this position include assigning new losses, reviewing files to ensure corporate best practices are met, and monitoring reserves to confirm that the reserves are set appropriately for anticipated exposure.


  • Assign and oversee moderate to complex claims throughout Maryland.
  • Ensure timely handling of claims for proper valuation determination, timely settlement offers, timely address to counteroffers, and proper settlement outcomes according to state statutes and regulatory policy.
  • Review files and train staff to ensure different jurisdictional requirements are met; such as, statutes, comparative negligence, strict liability, etc.
  • Attend Trials, Mediations and Settlement conferences as needed.
  • Follow HR standards and report to Claim Manager.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims experience.
  • Prior Team Lead/Management claims experience is a plus.
  • Must have TPA or Insurance Carrier claims experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the capability to write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and handle litigations and negotiations.

Salary/Benefits:

  • $80,000 to $100,000 annually (depending on experience)
