Nuclear Medicine Technologist I

Description Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and other related criteria appropriate to the age specific and/or cultural diversity of the population served in his/her assigned area. Maintains required core competencies. Complies with set Policies and Procedures (i.e. name tag, dress code, parking, smoking, etc.) Prepares patient for exam, administers premedication, radioactive isotopes and transfers patients to examining table after checking chart. Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines. Is prepared to start shift on time. Performs skills according to accepted standards as listed within the orientations skills check list. Surveys amount of radiation given off by radioactive material shipped to the department. Measures the radioactive dosage prescribed for a patient with a dose calibrator. Scans patient and makes proper settings. Maintains supplies, restocks and reports as needed. Records information on patient care and examination, maintains records on scans and test results and files patient records. Properly prepares and labels radiopharmaceuticals. Always wears film badge above the collar. Turns in film badges monthly for evaluation and follows up on results. Always wears film badge ring when on duty. Surveys Hot Lab and scan room for contamination daily. Performs all daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual surveys and QC. Written documentation is accurate, concise, and legible. Performs daily checks on the emergency drug box in Nuclear Medicine department. Coordinates scheduling of patient exams, orders isotopes, pharmaceuticals and other supplies as needed. Requirements Education Required: High School Preferred: Associate in Applied Sciences Licenses & Certifications Required: C-CNMT L-Nuclear Medicine NMT Preferred: C-BLS
