Description

This design engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical development of test fixtures for silicon validation, with responsibilities including:

  1. Defining mechanical requirement and interface for fixtures
  2. Brainstorming design ideas and executing design concepts in all phases of a development cycle
  3. Generating innovative designs with cross-functional teams
  4. Defining mechanical component outlines and assembly schemes
  5. Communicating cross-functionally on design directions and requirements
  6. Generating fixture design PD specifications
  7. Performing dimensional and tolerance analysis
  8. Leading and tracking multiple priorities within schedule requirements
  9. Prototype bring-up, debug and characterization
  10. Participating in the development of new testing processes
  11. Conducting design reviews and driving fabrication
  12. Design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing
  13. Driving failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate must be able to communicate well with cross-functional team members, able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the engineering community.

BS +10 years of relevant proven experience.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  1. The ideal candidate will have hands-on product design experience in electronic products or modules, direct fixture design experience is highly preferred.
  2. Applied knowledge in signal integrity, printed circuit boards, material science and basic chemistry is beneficial.
  3. Experience with design and analysis tools including Solidworks, Creo, Ansys, Icepack is a plus.
  4. Be able to perform FEA using ANSYS or similar tool.
  5. In depth of 3D CAD experience required, NX preferred. Experience with ECAD-MCAD data exchange using IDF, IDX required.
  6. Deep understanding of mechanical fabrication processes and be able to determine the best method for given design.
  7. Disciplined in GD&T practices and must be able to perform Tolerance Analysis of complex assemblies.
  8. Experience of designing various types of heat sinks and good understanding of electronics cooling for high power ASIC.
  9. Be able to perform structural analysis of ASIC Packages, Heat Sinks using ANSYS Mechanical or similar tool.
  10. Must be able to create assembly BOM and familiar with PDM tools.
  11. Experience of designing equipment utilizing Air or pneumatic cylinders and mechanism.
  12. Ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
