CMI is expanding, and we're looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts Job Safety Analysis, site visits, and audits for field operations and transportation.
  • Participates in project and safety planning meetings.
  • Develops and implements site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Collaborates with management on environmental, safety, and compliance policies, procedures, and training.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to safety and compliance programs.
  • Reviews and updates safety policies and training to reduce injuries and accidents.
  • Communicates environmental, safety, and compliance information within the organization.
  • Develops and disseminates Tool Box Topics and Safety Alerts.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes.
  • Mentors and trains other employees.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements and Experience:

  • Experience or internship in environmental, safety, or compliance preferred
  • Knowledge of safety policies, OSHA standards, and emergency protocols
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
  • Proficient with office and safety/compliance software
  • Ability to multitask and follow complex instructions
  • Proficient communication and documentation
  • Ability to understand and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to complete and pass required safety training courses

Education and Credentials 

  • Associate's or Bachelor's in Safety Sciences, Environmental Health, or Safety Management
  • OSHA certifications and or BSCP credentials 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Ability to stoop, crawl and bend

Other Requirements:

  • Background check and potential drug screening required for the position
  • Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance
