Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Guidewire Business Systems Consultant with specialized knowledge in information technology to join our dynamic team.

Being part of the core platforms team, you will play a key role in analyzing business processes, identifying system requirements, supporting solution implementation while working closely with various stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of programs business as well as experience working with commercial insurance systems and technologies.

What you will do -
  1. Collaborate with business stakeholders, including underwriting, claims, reinsurance, actuarial, and customer service teams, to gather and analyze business requirements to onboard programs onto core systems and manage them.
  2. Lead and participate in conversations at the time of programs onboarding, renewals with both internal and external partners for successful launch.
  3. Lead and participate in regular touchpoint meetings with various stakeholders to provide status, direction and prioritize backlog jointly with the product owners/stakeholders.
  4. Translate business requirements into detailed system specifications, including functional and technical requirements, data mappings, and process flows.
  5. Monitor business decisions and manage requirements documentation and communication.
  6. Organize and manage multiple assignments with competing priorities and deadlines, while adhering to departmental guidelines and expectations.
  7. Evaluate project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory, Information Technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams.
  8. Lead analysis of requirements to determine the systems’ potential and define impact on other business units and systems.
  9. Support the development team in completion of impact assessments and validation of effort estimates.
  10. Create process models based on business requirements in order to determine the completeness of the information and process components.
  11. Utilize Unified Modeling Language tools in creating Use Cases, Class and Sequence Diagrams based on the product design documentation.
  12. Support system configuration and integration testing including the functionality, performance and fit to ensure original requirements are met.
Job Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

Required:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.
  2. OR
  3. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area.
  4. AND
  5. Process reengineering, e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma, Continuous improvement methodologies.
  6. Process modeling tools.

Preferred:

  1. Property and Casualty Insurance experience.
  2. Understanding of end-to-end SDLC.
  3. Experience in intermediate to complex enterprise projects, in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Able to identify and consider business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
  5. General knowledge of financial services industry including knowledge of insurance business processes and processing.
  6. Must possess in-depth, strong problem solving analytical skills.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message.
  8. Hands-on experience with change management tools/methodologies.
  9. Proficient in using computer based tools.
