Position available for Full Time Health Center Recreation Therapist.

Days/Hours will vary with a Full Time schedule (40 hours/week - 1 weekend date required)

We are a 24/7 facility therefore one must be able to work weekends and holidays as required. All applicants are required to complete and pass a drug screening (including marijuana), physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice. The background search includes minor misdemeanors and DUIs.

Starting pay is $19.00/hr - $21.00/hr dependent on experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Conduct and assist with activities as directed by the HC Recreation Therapy Supervisor and in accordance with each residents plan of care.
Monitor and document residents behavior as needed following established standards for charting accurately, timely, completely, and legibly and report to supervisor.
Escort residents to and from activity programs as needed.
Assist with organizing, scheduling, and planning off-site activity outings.
Organize and maintain supply closet and office areas.
Provide supplies for residents independent leisure daily.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Recreation Therapy Degree preferred, but not required
At least 6 months experience preferred in long term care working directly with residents and families
Familiarity with Title 22 regulations preferred.
Basic computer skills required; Microsoft (MS) Office; Outlook, Word, Excel.
Ability to read, speak and write in the English language in order to understand instructions and communicate effectively with staff and residents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting involved. Must be able to push residents in Geri chairs and/or wheelchairs. May be exposed to communicable diseases, HIV and HBV Protective clothing, equipment, and exposure control training (including Hepatitis B vaccine) provided.
Works in clean well-lit sanitary environment with frequent interruptions.
May be subjected to offensive odors and combative resident behavior.
May be exposed to verbal and physical abuse by residents.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by this facility, which includes taking a medical and physical examination, and completing the TB clearance requirements.
