General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is looking for a Cardiology Technician to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center The Cardiology Technician will perform Holter scanning/analysis and exercise stress tests and electrocardiographic studies, assist in the implementation of protocols and procedures, and participate in the ongoing Performance Improvement program. Primary Duties:

  1. Adheres to departmental and MedStar Health Safety and Infection Control programs.
  2. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains Cardiology equipment as per department protocol.
  3. Reports patients or associate injuries as per established protocol.
  4. Demonstrates compliance with Universal Precautions when appropriate.
  5. Completes all related clerical procedures.
  6. Ensures completeness of required patient data prior to billing and interpretation.
  7. Adequately completes all department and MedStar Health billing requirements in a timely manner.
  8. Directs reports and confirmed EKG's as per department protocol.
  9. Maintains statistics as required.
  10. Completes all related procedures prior to performance of test procedure.
  11. Assists with planning and scheduling all Cardiology tests promptly.
  12. Assists in maintaining internal and external Cardiology supply inventories.
  13. Clarifies testing request in ambiguous situations.
  14. Communicates information about specific test(s) to the patient and/or family explaining procedure prior to testing.
  15. Consistently performs technically adequate EKG tracings with appropriate patient information displayed when required.
  16. Demonstrates accurate lead placement prior to performance of EKG.
  17. Enters all required patient information prior to performance of EKG.
  18. Transmits completed EKG into MUSE via modem and disc as appropriate.
  19. Prepares completed EKG tracings for physician review and confirmation when required.
  20. Consistently performs technically adequate Holter scanning hook up and analysis procedures.
  21. Demonstrates accurate lead placement during set up procedures.
  22. Performs calibration procedures ensuring adequate EKG tracing.
  23. Accurately completes analysis as per established protocol.
  24. Consistently performs technically adequate stress test procedures.
  25. Demonstrates accurate lead placement during setup procedures.
  26. Accurately performs EKG tracings and blood pressure determination during procedure.
  27. Follows protocols for performance of EKG tracings and blood pressure determination.
  28. Assists with monitoring patient condition and safety during procedure.
  29. Able to recognize and troubleshoot basic problems on all equipment used in any procedure.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. 1-2 years' experience in echocardiography.
  3. College-level courses in biological sciences including anatomy and physiology preferred.
  4. Holter scanning/arrhythmia analysis preferred.
  5. Registered Cardiography Technician preferred.
  6. Current registry Preferred or registry-eligible in Cardiovascular Technology preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $31.36.
