About Cognizant’s Communications Media and Technology Practice:

At Cognizant CMT - a cross functional team comprised of Delivery Leads, Product Managers, Architects, embedded developers, manual testers, performance testers and automation testers, builds higher quality cutting edge software solutions for clients in cable industry across the globe. Across our US offices or within client development sites, our Engineering teams ideate and develop innovative solutions following a Lean-Agile process with DevOps culture. Working in Cognizant CMT group, provides developers and testers consistent opportunities to drive excellence in technology while growing their exposure to fast paced and ever-changing cable industry landscape.

Location: Irving, TX

Responsibilities:

•Minimum 8 years of experience with MySQL, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL

• Proficient in understanding and creating complex SQL queries • Knowledge of version control practices and procedures (GIT)

• Highly proficient in SQL developer activities and multi-task to work in other technologies (Teradata/MS SQL Server)

• Experience in Unix shell scripting ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Expertise in managing PostgreSQL, MS SQL server with strong SQL programming skills.

• Experience in AWS cloud technologies like S3, EC2 etc.

• Experience in Jira and GitHub and other devops tools.

• Experience in MS SQL server

• Teradata Experience with ETL and tools like Microsoft ETL.

• Exposer to any reporting tool set like Qlik or Tableau

JOB DUTIES:

· Position will be responsible specific to,

· Designing database tables and structures.

· Creating views, functions, triggers, stored procedures, and packages.

· Research complex SQL/Postgres programs and address data issues.

· Provide batch application support.

· Build new ETL workflow in Teradata and unix.

· Work with the onshore and offshore team in application design and build using the technologies defined in the must have skills.

· Communicate status of the activities effectively with management or clients.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science/information technology or relevant engineering field with minimum 6 to 10 years of experience.

Documentation:

· Possess strong oral and written communication skills, including ability explain complex concepts simply.

· Can communicate effectively across with higher management and to audiences of varying technical prowess.

· Ability to clearly and simply organize information that conveys a story using PowerPoint.

· Strategic Planning/Vision: Ability to define the future state, as well as identifying the path to get there.

Problem Solving:

· Ability to investigate and solve complex technical problems and data discrepancies.

· Ability to develop solutions that align tactical solutions with strategic goals.

Self-Starter:

· Able to work independently, and multi-task under short deadlines, based upon general directions.

· Candidate will work in a team spread around multiple locations and expected to be a good team player within global setting.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
