General Description: Outside Employee Benefits sales position. Responsible for driving business sales, retention, and growing existing client revenue. Manage client relationships and drive profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve annualized new business sales of $200k in our target market of companies with 200-2,000 employees. With assistance from leadership and account management staff, retain at least 92% of business year over year.
  2. Meet new business activity and quality appointment goals.
  3. Use USI resources to research prospects and develop customized messaging for prospects.
  4. Understand and explain USI’s competitive differentiation to clients and prospects.
  5. Develop a sales business plan and use effective prospecting strategies.
  6. Innovate for clients using market knowledge and advanced understanding of technical insurance issues.
  7. Participate in national and regional meetings and video calls.
  8. Engage in meetings on preparing for first appointments, advancing, closing, and retaining business.
  9. Use USI’s contact management and sales automation tools to support sales processes. Input timely and accurate information to facilitate sales and revenue projections and engage technical resources.
  10. Participate in USI’s industry training and sales support programs.
  11. Pursue cross-selling opportunities to enhance prospect and client relationships.
  12. Collaborate with the account management team on significant account management services for clients.
  13. Demonstrate strong knowledge of USI competitors.
  14. Positively represent USI in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. 3 years + of sales experience in an insurance brokerage with a proven track record of sales success.
  2. College degree preferred.
  3. Must hold a Life and Health insurance license.
  4. Strong knowledge of Employee Benefits.
  5. Personable, highly motivated, and goal-oriented. Driven to achieve individual sales goals.
  6. Superior communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  7. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  8. A consultative, positive, and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients, and associates.
  9. Strong visibility within the Human Resources and benefits community.
  10. Excellent listening skills with strong customer focus.
  11. Ability to deal with senior-level management and have a top-level executive presence.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, and mail machine. Physical tasks of the job include driving, walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.

  3. Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.
  4. Rarely (< than 1 hour per week) work performed requires lifting/carrying items that range from 10-50lbs, pushing/pulling items that range from 10-50lbs, twisting/turning including reaching over shoulder or above head, kneeling, or squatting.
