Location: Houston, TX (Katy – Westside)

Salary: $65K - $80K per year

Schedule: Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Title: Architectural Designer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Architectural Designer to join our dynamic team in the Westside of Houston. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with 5-12 years of experience in residential architectural design, specifically for custom homes and high-end apartments. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed design plans, performing structural load calculations, and managing project documentation. Your contributions will directly impact the success of residential projects, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and layout framing plans for residential and commercial projects, including high-end homes and multi-family apartments.
  • Design and calculate gravity tributary loads, sizing beams and structural elements accordingly.
  • Create and design Wall Bracing Plans for lateral wind loads, ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to produce accurate 2D drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to streamline design processes and maintain project timelines.
  • Manage spreadsheets and tracking systems that improve production and workflow efficiencies.
  • Ensure all designs meet industry standards, building codes, and client specifications.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5-12 years of experience in architectural design, specifically in residential projects such as custom homes and high-end apartments.
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of structural design, including the ability to calculate and size beams, wall bracing, and load distribution.
  • Experience working on residential projects and familiarity with design principles for single-family homes and multi-family complexes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in both design and documentation.
