Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Lead Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in detox, with expertise in patient assessment and infection control.
Job Description:
The Lead Clinical Nurse (LCN) is an important clinical leader that collaborates in a dyad relationship with the Clinic Administrator regarding all operational and administrative matters. The LCN has a direct reporting relationship with the Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) and with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The LCN is expected to cultivate and maintain a positive work culture and encourage positive attitudes in their team members and patients. The LCN will be trained and required to become the acting administrator if the Clinic Administrator is expected not to be present on the premises for more than 30 calendar days.
Responsibilities:
Taking 7 consecutive days of the evenings and weekend Call Rotation (evening call begins at 1900 and ends at 0700 the following morning; weekend call begins Friday at 1900 and ends on Monday at 0700). All timings are based on Mountain Time zone.
- Monitoring and maintaining pharmaceuticals, including maintenance of all required documentation, as per DEA, State, and Joint Commission regulations and requirements.
- Ensure med closet fridge temperature recorded daily.
- Update patient roster in Omnicell.
- Check OCRA for Omnicell inventory needs.
- Weekly Narcotic closet counts.
- Medication orders.
- Stock Omnicell for weekend coverage.
- Weekly Omnicell Discrepancy reports.
- Monthly Omnicell reports: Waste audit, Discrepancy report, dispensing practice report, user team report, expiring items report.
- Quarterly Pharmacy inspections (upload documents/reports to HUB).
- Expired medications reverse distribution (every 6 months).
- Report monthly data to QM grid.
- Monthly Quality management/Safety/Infection control sheets, including: Defibrillator checks, code bag checks, mock code, fire drill, disaster drill, safe medication administration, hand washing hygiene, medication pour checklist, medication room audit.
- Assist, monitor, and report to the Clinic Administrator when on duty.
Other Responsibilities:
Cover three 12-hour nursing shifts weekly, provide care for up to 7 patients, and render and supervise care of Gallus Medical Detox patients.
- Participate in the evaluation of patient’s condition and progress with other team members.
- Observe and assess patients for clinical signs and symptoms following prescribed course of treatment.
- Implement nursing care and prescribed medical interventions based on observed clinical signs and symptoms.
- Record and report all pertinent information related to a patient’s mental and physical condition, and effects of treatment.
- Assign duties and supervise treatment by clinical technician staff.
- Report to Clinic Administrator all emergency, medical, and disciplinary situations that require administrative intervention including incident reports.
- Participate in Quality Management/Performance Improvement committees as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, and behavioral health training to stay current with new trends in detox methods.
- Maintain all required licenses and competencies.
- Maintain confidential patient records.
- Direct workflow of assigned nursing and ancillary staff.
Requirements/Qualifications:
The Lead Clinical Nurse should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- Hold a current RN license in good standing in the state the clinic operates in or an approved compact or multi-state license.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1-year full-time experience in ICU/CCU, step-down/telemetry, or Emergency Department setting.
- Proficient IV skills.
- Knowledge of detoxification regimens in substance abuse.
- Institutional knowledge of and background in behavioral health, specifically substance abuse.
- Have, or acquire within 6 months of hiring, knowledge of basic crisis intervention techniques, de-escalation methods, and defusing techniques to prevent violent patient behavior that is harmful to self or others.
- Proficient with medical record documentation, able to document relevant information about patient’s activities.
- Good physical and mental health and professional conduct.
- Excellent customer service, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Pay: $45.00 - $46.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
