Position Summary:

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects of differing types and scope. They will play a crucial role in planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring that they meet all objectives within scope, time, and budget constraints. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Define the scope, goals, deliverables, and roadblocks of projects in collaboration with senior management and relevant project stakeholders.
  2. Manage and execute multiple projects.
  3. Create a detailed schedule which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  4. Execute the project according to the project schedule by closely monitoring timelines, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  5. Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project.
  6. Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality.
  7. Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.
  8. Facilitate and coordinate project meetings, communication with external partners, and records (minutes, communication with stakeholders).
  9. Maintain clear and open communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of project progress, challenges, and milestones.
  10. Provide direction and support to the project team to eliminate roadblocks, acquire resources, and overcome schedule constraints.
  11. Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  12. Anticipate project roadblocks and engage relevant resources to address them.
  13. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project output.
  14. Charter, manage, and rescue more challenging projects where the scope, timelines, and available resources are ill-defined.
  15. Coach and develop project managers.
  16. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness and updating formal procedures for project management processes at one or more sites.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage Project Managers on ongoing projects and development.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a life sciences relevant field (e.g., Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering) required.
  2. At least 5 years of project management experience or similar experience leading project teams in the Life Science, Medical Device, or related industry is required.
  3. Experience working in an ISO 9001, GMP, ISO 13485 compliant environment and willingness to manage the project according to the requirements of these standards and Bio-Techne internal requirements.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  1. PMP Certification.
  2. At least 10 years of project management experience or similar experience leading project teams in the Life Science, Medical Device, or related industry.
  3. Experience developing and deploying project management systems, documentation, and tools.
  4. Experience working within a formal project management organization such as a project or program management office.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  2. Proven ability to interact with more senior functional managers.
  3. Proficiency in the use of computers for project scheduling software (such as Microsoft Project), word processing, simple accounting, database management, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internet.
  4. Communicate Effectively: Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques within a diverse cross-functional team.
  5. Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance project effectiveness.
  6. Lead: Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  7. Make Decisions: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  8. Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities.
  9. Plan: Determine strategies to move the project forward, create and implement actions to minimize delays, and anticipate requirements/actions to maintain schedule.
  10. Solve Problems: Working with the Project Team, assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations that meet the company goals.
