ABOUT JWC MACHINE AND FAB
JWC Machine and Fab is a CNC precision machining shop in Mobile, AL specializing in tight-tolerance components for industrial customers. With a team of skilled machinists and a commitment to craftsmanship, JWC operates across a broad range of materials and part complexities — from standard production runs to challenging large-format and specialized work. We are growing deliberately, and every hire matters.
POSITION SUMMARY
JWC is seeking a CNC Operator to support production across our CNC turning and milling operations. This role is well-suited for candidates with foundational machining knowledge who are ready to build toward full machinist capability in a professional shop environment. You will work alongside experienced machinists, learning setups and processes while keeping production moving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Load, unload, and cycle CNC machines following established setup sheets and job travelers
Perform basic in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges
Monitor machine operation for abnormal sounds, vibration, or part quality deviations
Report tooling wear, broken tools, or part quality concerns to the lead machinist or supervisor immediately
Assist machinists with setup activities including work-holding, tooling changes, and material staging
Keep machines and work area clean and organized throughout the shift
Maintain accurate part counts and document production records
Follow all shop safety policies and use required PPE at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 1 year of experience in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment preferred
Ability to read a basic engineering drawing and recognize dimensional tolerances
Familiarity with common inspection tools (calipers, micrometers)
Willingness to learn — this role has a defined growth path toward CNC Machinist
Attention to detail and the ability to identify parts that do not meet specification
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain focus during repetitive production tasks
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Candidates with NIMS credentials, technical school training, or SkillsUSA machining competition experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
