SUMMIT PETROLEUM LLC, a Midland-based private oil company, is interviewing for the position of Reservoir Engineer to support our Midland Basin horizontal development program. The position will report to the Vice President of Operations & Engineering. The ideal candidate will have five to ten years of experience in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, and Asset Development and be able to assist or perform most of the following responsibilities, including but not limited to:

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & KNOWLEDGE EXPECTATIONS:

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering.

· 5-10 years of industry-related experience with a concentration in reservoir engineering and some completions or production experience is preferred.

· Advanced knowledge of petroleum engineering, unconventional asset development, economic modeling, and corporate reserves concepts.

· Exceptional analytical skills, specifically around data organization and interpretation.

· The candidate must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires a high level of accuracy while maintaining focus on the big picture. The candidate must also be self-motivated, able to work individually and within an integrated team environment, prioritize projects, and meet established deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to upper management and across field and office peers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical evaluation of prospects and producing properties, well and reservoir surveillance functions, and economic evaluations at a project level including AFE packages and presentations.

  • Analyze data with a holistic tool kit including decline curve analysis and type curve creation.

  • Provide estimations of recoverable hydrocarbons using probabilistic and deterministic volumetrics and EURs.

  • Develop correlations between geologic, well spacing, completion variables, and well performance while incorporating reservoir studies of existing assets to determine completion and spacing optimization potential in new areas.

  • Build extensive, in-depth economic evaluation models and understand their inputs and outputs.

  • Conduct technical reviews and asset evaluations for operated, non-operated positions, and acquisition opportunities.

  • Provide ongoing look-back analysis of recently drilled wells and incorporate findings into future development plans.

  • Evaluate and report competitor results and conduct basin studies for benchmarking and acquisition opportunities.

  • Production forecasting, reserves estimation, and support of quarterly cash flow reviews and annual budget cycles.

  • Support the annual reserves process, including collaboration with third-party consultants & auditors to ensure compliance with reserve reporting practices, property tax appraisals, and corporate value reports.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
