Description of PBHS at HSC

PBHS at HSC is an outpatient mental health clinic within the Keck Medicine of USC medical system, comprised of a multidisciplinary team providing mental health services to Keck Medicine patients.

Position Description (Purpose, Scope, and Duties)

The USC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking licensed clinical psychologists and social workers to provide outpatient evidence-based psychotherapy treatments and mental health services. Clinicians will perform psychosocial evaluations and diagnostic assessments, provide short-term evidence-based psychotherapies and psycho-educational interventions, and work with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care.

This is a full-time clinical faculty position with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Salary is competitive and contingent on experience. Essential Functions

  • Reports to clinic/division leadership
  • Conducts initial diagnostic evaluations and biopsychosocial assessments, develops treatment plans, and provides evidence-based psychological interventions
  • Provides individual and group therapy as indicated
  • Evaluates crisis situations and intervenes appropriately
  • Completes timely documentation and billing according to clinic policies
  • Maintains appropriate clinical records and complies with all relevant regulatory policies
  • Participates in clinical outcome evaluation
  • Collaborates and consults with other mental health and medical providers
  • Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinic meetings
  • Attends and contributes to department and division meetings
  • Participates in yearly peer review and quality improvement activities
  • Schedules reflect a hybrid of telemedicine and in-person clinic. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, or Master's degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Licensed in California
  • Well-developed clinical skills and experience utilizing evidence-based interventions
  • Effectively works in a highly diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA affirmative environment
  • Interest and skill in an integrated approach to care
  • Willingness and ability to meet departmental productivity standards
  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments
  • Flexible and comfortable adapting to a new and evolving clinical practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hospital-based or medical system environment
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and knowledge of DSM5
  • Resilient, self-aware, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with chronic medical illness and short-term psychotherapy interventions
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice
  • Desire to continue to grow as a professional; committed to excellence and lifelong learning
  • Strong communication skills
  • Foreign language skills are a plus
