Position Title: Royalty Accountant

Schedule: 2 days WFH, 3 days in Princeton office


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Calculate royalties in accordance with defined procedures and timetables, ensuring the controls are designed to verify and analyze the accuracy, validity and completeness of all inputs and outputs.

• Review and improve internal controls where applicable

• Produce monthly and one-time reports and analyses of royalties paid/payable and IP performance for distribution to internal management and Publisher Relations.

• Provide analytical support to Publisher Relations department and internal management as directed by the Royalty Manager.

• Participate in the consolidation process of financial statements, accrual and forecast.

• Work with Accounts Payable, , team and Content operations to resolve banking issues

• Monitor time series variances in usage, revenue and royalty payments.

• Liaise with Publisher Relations to verify any contractual changes to the payment terms.

• Implement and test changes done to royalty processes to incorporate current business needs.


Key Relationships Internally and Externally:


• With Information Providers (our suppliers). This group provides the raw material for our products. It is of critical importance to maintain the relationships and be responsive to their needs.

• With Publisher Relations. The group who negotiate contracts and manage the relationship with information providers.

• With Content Management. The group that maintain records of ownership of sources.

• With Technology. The group that provides information on revenue and usage of sources.

• With Accounts Payable. For processing payments to information providers.

• With Finance. For accruals, forecasts and budgets.

• With management. For reporting and analysis


Quals--

The Royalty Accountant will process royalty calculations in accordance with procedures and timetables as directed by the Royalty Manager. The Royalty Accountant will also generate statements, reports and analyses, as directed, assist with responding to information requests from Information Providers and internal management for review by the Royalty Manager. Participate in routine royalty reporting and special projects.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience preferred.

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. Use of Excel macros desired.

• Experience with royalty software system is desirable

• Excellent organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent Analytical Logical thinking and problem solving ability.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment utilizing team-oriented interpersonal skills in order to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and deal with multiple changing priorities
