Overview
The Electric Utility Site Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel working at electric utility sites. This position involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety protocols to comply with federal, state, and local regulations. The manager will conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions to identify potential hazards and ensure that all staff are equipped with the knowledge to maintain a safe working environment. In the event of incidents, the manager will lead investigations, document findings, and recommend corrective actions. A key focus of this role is to foster a culture of safety within the organization, promoting open communication and collaboration among all team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years in safety management, preferably within the electric utility or construction industry.
- OSHA certification; additional safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are preferred.
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices specific to the electric utility sector.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate staff.
- Strong capability in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
- Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to respond effectively to safety incidents and develop actionable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement safety protocols and practices at electric utility sites.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization through effective communication and engagement initiatives.
- Create and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to prioritize safety in all operations.
- Maintain detailed records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits for regulatory reporting.
