Sr. Consulting Cloud Architect/ Fractional CTO

About the Role:

We are growing our IT consulting practice and are seeking Fractional CTOs for our clients. The senior management team members will be responsible for developing new technology strategies and roadmaps to creating tech policies or building technical teams. They would have had hands-on technical experience in the past. They would have been involved with technical due diligence and acquisitions within the technology sector.

This contract, on-demand role involves providing fractional CTO services, working on technical due diligence on potential acquisition targets, and focusing on financial, technical, and operational aspects. They will collaborate closely with the firm's C-suite executives, guiding the decision-making process with high-level assessments and strategic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

Fractional CTO Experience:

  • Serve to provide strategic technical leadership on a part-time or project basis, with a strong background in startups or growing businesses that need executive-level expertise.
  • Develop and execute a company’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Advise on technology investments, vendor partnerships, and innovation opportunities, helping the company stay competitive and tech-forward while optimizing costs.

Due Diligence Leadership:

  • Lead and manage in-depth due diligence efforts for technology companies, evaluating financials, infrastructure, software, and IP portfolios.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for the venture capital firm, highlighting key findings, risks, and opportunities.
  • Identify and assess potential synergies, integration challenges, and risk factors related to the acquisition.

Cloud Architectural Experience

  • Hands-on multi-cloud architectural expertise.
  • Cloud Platform ProficiencyExpertise in AWS, Azure, and GCP with cross-cloud solutions.
  • IntegrationExperience in seamless app and service integration across clouds.
  • Vendor AgnosticSkilled in building flexible, non-provider-specific systems.
  • Cost & GovernanceStrong in optimizing costs and ensuring compliance across clouds.
  • High AvailabilityExpertise in multi-cloud disaster recovery and failover strategies.

Risk Assessment & Reporting

  • Conduct risk assessments on technology assets, including cybersecurity, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA), and scalability.
  • Review intellectual property, patents, and technology ownership to identify value or risks.
  • Provide mitigation strategies for technical and operational risks related to acquisition.
  • Generate detailed reports for the venture capital firm’s executive team, synthesizing due diligence findings into actionable insights.
  • Present high-level recommendations to C-suite executives on acquisition targets, focusing on the strategic fit and long-term value.
  • Offer expert guidance on deal structuring, valuation, and potential returns based on technology assets.
  • Develop technology integration strategies post-acquisition to ensure seamless alignment with the venture capital firm's portfolio companies.
  • Advise on how target companies' technologies can be leveraged for growth and innovation within the acquiring firm's ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure a successful integration that maximizes value.
  • Stay up to date on market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the tech sector.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in analyzing technology systems, software, cloud infrastructure, and intellectual property.
  • Financial modeling skills with a focus on the valuation of technology assets.
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills, with a proven ability to present findings clearly to senior leadership.
  • Strong project management experience, particularly in leading multidisciplinary due diligence teams.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance, or related field. Advanced degrees (MBA, M.S.) are highly preferred.
