Principal Systems Engineer – SCCM / MECM – Active Top Secret and SCI Eligibility Required

HOW A PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER for SCCM/MECM WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  1. Provide expertise with Microsoft's SCCM/MECM.
  2. Leverage SCCM/MECM to provide security patches, vulnerability patches, hotfixes and other updates to user workstations and servers.
  3. Administer SCCM software delivery, including various methods such as running advertised programs, machine targeted, user targeted, Application Library, and Software Center.
  4. Manage and administer SCCM client health, including the process of getting clients healthy.
  5. Provide expertise with PowerShell for custom reporting.
  6. Develop advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
  7. Troubleshoot highly complex system hardware and software issues.
  8. Develop training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
  9. Develop implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  10. Perform In Place Upgrades as needed for servers and laptops.
  11. Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  12. Ensure workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
  13. Lead efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  14. Conduct advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  15. Develop performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.
  16. Evaluate existing systems and plan long-term strategies.
  17. Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
  18. Serve as a team or task lead as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  1. Education : BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline required. MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related disciplines preferred.
  2. Required Experience : 17+ years.
  3. Required Technical Skills : DoD 8140/8570 IAT II compliance.
  4. Security Clearance Level : Active Top Secret with a T5 or T5R within that last 5 years.
  5. Required Skills and Abilities : Strong oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to convey conceptual ideas both written and verbally; Strong problem-solving skills.
  6. Preferred Skills : Experience with Microsoft Server 2022.
  7. Location: Washington, District of Columbia; limited telework may be available.
