Key Responsibilities- Conduct detailed mental health assessments tailored to the specific needs of geriatric patients, evaluating their psychological, emotional, and social wellness.
- Craft and implement individualized treatment plans based on best practices and evidence-based therapies, aimed at addressing mental health disorders commonly found in the older adult population.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), to provide individual and family therapy sessions.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as geriatric psychiatrists, to coordinate care and ensure the most effective treatment approaches.
- Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources, aiming to empower them in their care journey.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records while adhering to all legal and ethical guidelines, enhancing the quality of care through effective case management.
Your primary focus will be on the geriatric population, addressing their unique mental health challenges, which may include issues such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline. You will engage with clients in a manner that honors their experiences and encourages their participation in treatment, fostering trust and a sense of security for them and their families.
Qualifications- A Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- An active and valid license as an LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT in the state of California.
- A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting, preferably with an emphasis on geriatric mental health.
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health disorders affecting older adults and evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity for empathy and a patient-centered approach.
- Experience delivering therapeutic services to diverse populations within the geriatric demographic.
- Familiarity with tools and methodologies relevant to assessing and treating mental health disorders in older adults.
- Proven ability to establish rapport and build lasting relationships with clients and their families.
