Position Summary: Utilizes trauma-informed, evidence-based clinical interventions to promote healing and safety of High-Risk Victims of Intimate Partner Violence that have been identified through the Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT); possesses knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence and homelessness; and provides constructive interventions and individualized care and therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts in-person intake assessments to establish safety plans, identify case management needs, advocacy needs, and readiness for therapeutic services.
  • Delivers and provides in-person individual and group counseling sessions using TF-CBT or other therapeutic interventions as determined by the needs of the client.
  • Proactively engages non-offending caregivers in the treatment of the child(ren) to promote enhanced attachment, decreased symptoms, and improved safety.
  • Maintains a caseload of high-risk referrals and high-risk cases from the Domestic Violence High Risk Team.
  • Assists with adult intakes to ensure all clients are seen in a timely manner to assess high risk and determine immediate safety and crisis needs.
  • Facilitates in-person High Risk Support groups.
  • Supports clients by attending court hearings.
  • Maintains case files and client notes in a timely manner by entering client treatment plans, case notes, telephone consultations, referrals, and others into the Clients First database.
  • Conducts ongoing communication with High-Risk Victim Services Manager, High Risk Advocate, and High Risk Case Manager.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations utilizing de-escalation, crisis intervention, conflict resolution skills, and therapeutic solutions.
  • Discusses risk assessments with high-risk clients so they are in a position to make informed decisions.
  • Assists with conducting crisis calls to high-risk victims 24/48 hours after an incident to provide crisis intervention, safety planning, resources, referrals, and connect them to internal or external support services, as needed.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participates in service training programs and workshops to update professional knowledge; maintains current professional knowledge of domestic violence, domestic violence high-risk teams, crisis theory, and community resources, including risk assessments of danger, resources of direct solution, and the criminal justice system.
  • Attends and participates in weekly High-Risk Services Team meetings.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled individual 1:1 meetings.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled DVHRT High Risk Case Review team meetings.
  • Works assigned schedule with adequate flexibility; may be required to provide during other hours.
  • Attends agency-related domestic violence training courses to continue to enhance one’s knowledge and dynamics of domestic violence.
  • Assists in providing information for reports or statistical information when requested.
  • Represents the agency in community activities and provides community presentations as requested.
  • Ensures weekly utilization rate is at or above agency standards.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, cultural diversity, and diverse socioeconomic levels of clients.
  • Knowledge and experience working with victims of trauma.
  • Knowledge of the power and control wheel.
  • Experience in the area of domestic violence, child abuse, trauma, or related issues.
  • Experience with individual counseling, group counseling, or play therapy.
  • Experience in relating to others through understanding, respect, and skilled communication.
  • Ability to work independently, set goals, and accomplish them with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and agency confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population.
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols and agency policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients.

Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience (paid or non-paid) in a shelter or clinical setting working with victims of domestic violence.

Education: MSW or MS/MA with a concentration in counseling.

License: LPC-A or LMSW with secured Clinical Supervision.

Clinical Hours: Working on clinical hours, but less than 3000.

Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).

Working Location: Work must be performed in the agency office.
