The Amazon Global Benefits team is seeking a Benefits Manager (Benefits Specialist III) to help shape and execute our next gen vision for medical plan carrier benefits and other health plan needs as assigned. This role will raise the bar on the end-to-end experience for Amazonians as they discover, enroll, and use health plan benefits to optimize health. The candidate will be accountable for managing plan performance and innovating on new approaches to health plan benefits that maximize value for members and Amazon.

This role is based in Seattle, WA (HQ1). Periodic domestic business travel is required.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Owner of end to end vendor management that drives solutions and results based on industry experience, alignment on internal goals with stakeholders and expertise in regulatory compliance. Proactively identify areas for improvement in vendor processes and implement best practices to enhance overall vendor performance and value delivery.
  2. Conduct in-depth and regular medical plan (and other health plans as assigned) analysis of spend and partner with the clinical, business and science teams to identify potential savings opportunities and efficiencies.
  3. Translate voice of customer data into strategic program management recommendations to enhance member experience.
  4. Apply deep industry knowledge to write white paper proposals and recommendations to enhance program performance. Candidate will influence and communicate across multiple internal and external teams.
  5. Work collaboratively with vendor partners, and internal cross functional teams to build and implement medical plan benefit design and process improvements at scale.
  6. Develop efficient workflows for internal and external technical teams to build new health plan solutions and cross-vendor integrations.
  7. Manage multiple concurrent projects.
  8. Monitor, document, analyze and resolve member escalations.
  9. Be the medical plan SME and own the coordination of medical procurement, finance, communications, contracting and compliance.
  10. Manage appeals/exception/escalation process and document all decisions.
  11. Develop proposals and summary documents for senior leaders.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of experience leading strategic and operational medical program management in national employer health plan, at a health insurance organization, or as a healthcare benefit consultant.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in healthcare, business, HR or related field or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree or higher in healthcare, business, HR or related field.

- Proven track record of effectively forming collaborative team relationships with senior administrators, department managers/directors, clinicians and vendors in complex organizations to coordinate the launch of innovative and successful medical programs.

- 7+ years of experience in employee medical benefit plan design, along with plan administration, associated payroll processes, regulatory requirements and benefits program taxability.

- Prior experience with patient support clinical programs.

- Exceptional critical thinking/problem solving skills, comfortable analyzing large amounts of medical plan benefit data and communicating findings with senior leaders.

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to thrive in a complex, matrix, work environment that changes rapidly.

The base pay for this position ranges from $135,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
