PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Coordinate and expedite throughput activity on behalf of patients who seek care in the Emergency Department.
- Have final accountability and authority regarding patient flow and react to the immediate operational needs of the department.
- Supervise and direct other members of the Emergency Department interdisciplinary team to assist in the coordination and advancement of care throughout the patient experience.
- Collaborate with other departments such as housekeeping, escort, and admitting coordinating resources to facilitate and maximize throughput.
- Evaluate capacity of services and be accountable for facilitating the appropriate response to volume demands.
- Continually update clinical knowledge & skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
- Proven ability to work well independently, possess sound decision-making skills, and work effectively when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.
- Graduated from an approved school of nursing, BSN required. MSN preferred. CEN preferred.
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts.
- 2 years ED experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of patient flow and emergency department operations.
