PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinate and expedite throughput activity on behalf of patients who seek care in the Emergency Department.
  2. Have final accountability and authority regarding patient flow and react to the immediate operational needs of the department.
  3. Supervise and direct other members of the Emergency Department interdisciplinary team to assist in the coordination and advancement of care throughout the patient experience.
  4. Collaborate with other departments such as housekeeping, escort, and admitting coordinating resources to facilitate and maximize throughput.
  5. Evaluate capacity of services and be accountable for facilitating the appropriate response to volume demands.
  6. Continually update clinical knowledge & skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
  7. Proven ability to work well independently, possess sound decision-making skills, and work effectively when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Graduated from an approved school of nursing, BSN required. MSN preferred. CEN preferred.
  2. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts.
  3. 2 years ED experience preferred.
  4. Extensive knowledge of patient flow and emergency department operations.
