SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Directs financial activities of an organization by performing the following duties personal or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and practices relating to the management of all accounting related functions including cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit policies, billing, general ledger, and fixed asset accounting.

Recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for the company.

Prepare reports, which summarize and forecast company business transactions and financial positions in areas such as income and expenses, based on past, present, and expected operations.

Creates reports to support the Operations and Sales teams.

Recommends improvements in processes to reduce steps and costs.

Evaluations way to support purchasing to control or reduce costs of purchased materials.

Prepare departmental and company-wide budget, monitors compliance throughout the year.

Determine depreciation rates of assets and advise management on operational adjustments due to tax revisions.

Prepare financial statements, corporate income tax returns, and other reports required by regulatory agencies.

Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

Oversee and conduct proper journal entries and accruals; and other procedures and financial reporting for subsidiaries.

Effectively manage accounting staff. Ensure daily duties are done properly, accurately, and timely. Conduct performance reviews and wage recommendations. Develop training plans for team.

Advise management of property and worker’s compensation insurance. Assist in the worker’s compensation dividend calculations and accruals methodology.

Arranges for audits of company’s accounts.

Establishes and maintains relations with banks and other financial institutions. Deliver deposits as necessary.

Responsible for the correct preparation of all month end reporting; ensuring timeliness and accuracy.

Recommend improvements in methods and procedures.

Other duties as assigned or required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervise four employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a four year college or university.
  • Minimum of four to ten years of previous accounting experience required.
  • Previous experience managing/leading teams effectively.
  • Requires a strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications, specifically MS Excel; ERP systems.
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently; self-directed. Manage assigned projects effectively.
  • Customer service orientated; ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Possess strong problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; and occasionally stand and walk. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
