Summary/Objective: Promotes the company mission statement by joining the Project Manager and Superintendent as a team who work together to create a safe work environment, build a quality project, keep projects on schedule while earning a fair and reasonable profit.

Essential Functions:

  1. Learning what it means to be the main contact for the project at the jobsite.
  2. Assist in overseeing the project to make all critical field decisions or understand where to get assistance from.
  3. Assist in and learning to oversee the project to ensure proper project decisions:
    1. Scheduling
    2. Delivery
    3. Logistics, Staging & Phasing
    4. Quality Control
    5. Employee staffing levels
  4. Ability to communicate with Owner and Architect/Engineer relating to field issues:
    1. Investigating issues.
    2. Assisting in resolving issues.
    3. Knowing the proper time to involve Owners and Architects/Engineers.
  5. Demonstrates leadership regarding Harper General Team Big 5:
    1. Safety/SOAR
    2. Core
    3. Procurement/Scheduling
    4. Pre-Install Meetings
    5. Exterior Skin Systems Meetings
  6. Assist and Understand the Project Safety Requirements:
    1. Ensure Harper safety requirements are explained, implemented, and demonstrated.
    2. Develop and implement working relationship with Safety Manager.
    3. Conduct weekly site safety inspections in Procore.
  7. Learning to understand the importance of an accurate and up to date procurement log.
  8. Assist the Superintendent/PM to create Schedules as well as determining sequencing of work.
  9. Understand project QAQC.
  10. Assist in overseeing the coordination of all trade partners.
  11. Supervise field staff to ensure staff development.
  12. Ability to manage timesheets for field staff.
  13. Ability to manage and complete all daily reports.
  14. Manage all jobsite equipment.
  15. Recognize and understand the importance of compliance of local building codes.
  16. Participate and recognize the importance of all required inspections for the project.
  17. Ensure by documenting and executing a proper Harper punch list prior to inviting Owner and Design Team punch list.
  18. Procore:
    1. Fill-In Daily Log but not responsible.
    2. Read commitment scopes of work and understand content.
    3. Create Inspections.
    4. Know where and how to utilize information from meeting minutes.
    5. Create and track an observation.
    6. Utilize the photos application.
    7. Create and maintain the punch-list.
    8. Create an RFI for review by Superintendent and seek RFI information where applicable.
    9. Understand how to navigate and seek information from Specs tool.
    10. Understand how to navigate and seek information from Submittals.
    11. Ability to enter timesheet in Procore.

Competencies:

  2. Demonstrate ability to understand conflicts regarding design.
  3. Demonstrate willingness and some ability to run a Trade Partner coordination meeting.
  4. Attend all OAC meetings.
  5. Becoming proficient at solving clashes and conflicts of building systems.
  6. Demonstrate ability to develop and manage a QAQC program.
  7. OSHA 30 certified.
  8. Proven track record of a strong safety culture on the jobsite.
  9. Some understanding of construction means and methods for all scopes of work.
  10. Demonstrate the ability to lead the jobsite.
  11. Must be detail oriented.
  12. Supervise multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently.
  13. Able to solve complex issues.
  14. A “Can Do” attitude.
  15. Read and understand people and their intentions.
  16. Can build relationships with project teammates and trade partners.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Assistant Superintendent shall assist the Superintendent in supervising all Trade Partners, consultants, and vendors daily.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.

Physical Demands:

  1. The Assistant Superintendent is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments.
  2. This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
  3. Driving a company-owned vehicle is required to perform the duties of an assistant superintendent.

Travel Required: Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Minimal overnight or weekend travel.

Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum 4 years of jobsite supervision experience.
  2. This includes working as an assistant superintendent or foreman.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements: Authorized to work in the United States.
