Wage Range that the Company Expects to Pay: $300,000 annually (base salary + incentives, productivity, and APP supervision).
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Physician provides primary healthcare services for Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. (CHC), and performs related work as required.
CHC's primary purpose is to provide the highest quality of total care possible to the patient population it serves. Such quality depends on the staff's ability to work together, individually, and as a team. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Secures and evaluates a patient's health history and records findings systematically and accurately.
- Performs physical assessments and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings.
- Provides routine physical examinations, diagnostic services, and treatment of illnesses and emergencies.
- Adheres to the highest standards of medical ethics at all times.
- Assures quality of care for all patients.
- Shares on-call duties with other members of the medical staff.
- Elicits and records information about patients' medical history.
- Examines patients to determine general physical condition.
- Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images.
- Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examinations, and diagnoses conditions.
- Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs.
- Inoculates and vaccinates patients.
- Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and disease prevention methods.
- Reports births, deaths, and contagious disease outbreaks to authorities.
- Refers patients to medical specialists for specialized treatment.
- Conducts physical examinations for school admissions, job considerations, or insurance eligibility.
- Assists the Chief Medical Officer in establishing and evaluating medical policies.
- Shares supervisory responsibilities of the nurse practitioner with the Clinical Director as required.
- Works within privileges and protocols established by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Participates in committees as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Demonstrates adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
- Maintains and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
- Participates in patient population management considering cultural diversity and local resources.
- Participates in care coordination by providing follow-up phone calls and assisting with follow-up appointments.
- Understands the role in self-management support for high-risk clients.
- Demonstrates communication skills with all team members to facilitate care.
- Understands the role in the quality improvement process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise mid-level providers at the direction of the Chief Medical Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Medical Doctor Degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school. Completion of a residency training program in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required. Board Certification or board eligibility is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Bilingual (English and Spanish) ability is desirable.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Knowledge of family-centered medicine principles and ability to apply logical thinking to various problems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a current, unrestricted license as a Physician and Surgeon from the Medical Board of California. Board Certified/Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics is required.
