The Release of Information Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the release of patient documents and records from Electronic Medical records (EMR) is accurate, timely and complete. The Release of Information Analyst prepares, documents, processes, and completes medical records request for information in accordance with state, federal and hospital guidelines. Collects and processes funds collected by the Health Information Medical Services (HIMS) department for records processed. Receives and answers all Release of Information questions and its processes.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
Processes release of information from a multitude of sources regarding all aspects of the medical record and its release in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and organizations rules and regulations to external customers, such as physicians, attorneys, insurance, patients, etc.
Creates and sends out invoices for ROI requests. Prepares funds collected to be sent to Finance Department.
Reviews Death Certificates for accuracy and receives training on processing them.
Processes protected adolescent/confidential records, mental health records, social work records, or anything with additional protections required by law.
Processes of Patient Financial Services (PFS) records requests through insurance company through mail or insurance specific portal. This can include from the Stanford School of Medicine and internal and external auditors.
Sorts and processes mail using the postal administered mail sorting machine.
Invoices record requestors, logs and invoices release of information (ROI) requests into the system and processes checks.
Coordinates with patients and/or requestors for MyChart, InBasket, and MD Portal sign-up to aid in the ease of release of information.
Identifies duplicate records and merges them into a single account in Epic.
Manages Specific Release of Information Epic Work Queues for different requests depending on the type of requests and managing time requirements for request.
Prints, assembles and returns patient records.
Processes records requests through multiple Portals including, but not limited to paper, Cerner, Epic, and send records through Mychart, InBasket and MD portal.
Utilizes various methods (i.e. cross match signatures, verifies patient identification, consent forms and agreements) to verify information in the medical record to determine the appropriate required action.
Validates requestor identification (i.e. patient, hospital or physician).
Works closely with other members of the organization to obtain necessary information to process ROI requests.
Updates provider access in Epic.
Minimum QualificationsAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education : High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience : None.
Licensure/Certification : None required.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesThese are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.
Ability to maintain a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, fax and scanner machines.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time pressure.
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
Skills: Proficient data entry and typing skills.

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $64,251.20 to $72,883.20.
