Per Diem Sterile Processing Technician II

Minimum Requirements
  1. High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent
  2. Possess and maintain current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician through an accredited organization (CRCST- Certified Registered Central Service Tech, IAHCSMM, or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician CBSPD).
  3. A minimum of one (1) year of previous Sterile Processing technician experience
  4. Knowledge of all areas in SPD including:
    1. Decontamination
    2. Inspection, Assembly & Packaging (all service lines)
    3. Sterilization of Packaged Medical Devices
    4. QC & Sterilization record keeping
    5. Distribution of Sterile Products
    6. Preparation, Build, and QA of Case carts
    7. Detailed knowledge and ability to operate machinery including sterilizers, washers, and ultrasonic cleaners
    8. The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
    9. Good communication and customer service skills
    10. Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard & mouse operations
    11. Demonstrated ability to perform multiple, complex tasks competently
    12. Knowledge of medical terminology
    13. Knowledge of standard precautions for safety and prevention of cross-contamination
    14. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    15. The ability to understand, speak, and write English to communicate with nursing, technical, and medical staff
    16. The ability to safely move heavy trays and equipment, lifting to 50 pounds, and stand for a prolonged period
