Our client, a leading investment manager that has been around for more than 50 years, is seeking a Data Analyst to join their enterprise data management team in their Charlotte headquarters.



This team ensures securities information is ingested, maintained, and distributed correctly throughout the firm’s core application stack, which consists of Charles River Investment Management System, APX portfolio accounting system, and several other applications that integrate into the core stack. The Enterprise Data team works very closely with our Data Engineering and Product Support teams to ensure we have the correct workflow and jobs in place to aid in the data management lifecycle.


As a Data Analyst, you will provide daily data production support for our entire investment process. The core responsibility is to create and maintain investment securities, benchmarks, and related pricing and related data in the firm’s portfolio management, trading, and accounting systems. You will be responsible for managing and improving our master database of investment security data, including a multitude of securities products. This will include market data vendor integration/quality control from our security reference sources such as Bloomberg, FactSet, and ICE.


Working within a set of time-critical tasks, you will execute data management activities in multiple systems including amending, validating, deactivating, repairing, & enriching records. You will be responsible for triaging data exceptions, identifying root cause via analysis, providing timely resolution, and create controls to ensure data accuracy through enhancing existing processes with automation and technology. Resolution often includes finding and filling gaps with added SQL code and/or adding new workflow processes efficiencies across our core applications.

Key Responsibilities of Data Analyst

Responsible for building out data flows, integrations, and automations.

  • Research, source, and analyze securities reference data, along with industry information, using market data and various vendor sources.
  • Daily production support in group email box includes troubleshooting security data exceptions, trade issues, compliance issues, etc.
  • Perform analyst activities including querying, data analysis, mapping of vendor and internal data, workflow development/optimization and process reengineering.
  • Partner with team members to build out our technology stack; specifically implementing an enterprise data warehouse in Snowflake.
  • Lead internal projects that focus on new integration, problem solving, SQL enhancements, and reengineer existing legacy workflows and processes.
  • Partner with business on new initiatives/enhancements.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks that range from data quality reviews to automation recons.
  • Application customization and workflow optimization.
  • Enhancing processes related to data dictionaries, data lineage, master data management and data governance.


Required Skills and Competencies Data Analyst


  • At least 3 years in the financial service industry preferably in a data management, data analyst, data governance, operational or technical role. Asset Management experience is a major plus.
  • Understanding of financial service industry, with a strong knowledge of equity and fixed income securities.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Advanced experience with SQL, Excel, and Python strongly preferred.
  • Experience maintaining data integration between data sources and core applications.
  • Experience with Advent’s APX, Charles River IMS, FactSet, ICE and Bloomberg strongly preferred.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with third party vendors who provide reference data; Bloomberg, FactSet, IDC, Fitch, Morningstar, Moody's, S&P, etc.
  • Experience collaborating alongside teammates to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.

Experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting and Integration services (SSRS, SSIS).

  • Experience creating data governance policies and standards.
  • Experience with Eagle IS and Bloomberg DL+ products a plus.

Experience with Enterprise Data Management software strongly preferred.

Cloud Data warehousing experience using Snowflake is a plus.

  • Experience with VBA macros and Visual Studios for SSMS.
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau for analytical reporting.

Experience with Cloud Hosting providers such as AWS and Azure are a plus.
