Description

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Machine Learning Researcher with a consistent track record in applied AI research and software development to collaborate on shaping the future of AI-powered innovations at Apple. Together on our team, we will have the opportunity to push boundaries, challenge assumptions, and bring our ideas to life. On our team, some of our work includes but is not limited to:

  1. Designing, developing, and deploying large-scale multimodal foundation models and compact neural architectures such as transformers.
  2. Collaborating with multi-functional teams of ML researchers, software engineers, and designers to integrate research into production frameworks and drive product innovation.
  3. Developing and implementing novel algorithms and techniques to address complex problems, with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and deployment on distributed backends and devices.
  4. Working closely with product teams throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to launch, to ensure seamless integration of AI-powered features.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS or PhD or equivalent experience in CS/EE/AI or related fields plus 5+ years of applied research and development in AIML or Search technologies and implementing novel algorithms and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing.
  • Experience in multimodal Generative AI modeling and application development, with a focus on data, evaluation, automation, and deployment on distributed backends and devices.
  • Proficiency in ML tools/frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, Tensorflow.
  • Ability to adopt or implement established methodologies and apply statistical analysis in problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ML optimization methods for efficient on-device ML.
  • Expertise in working with Large Language Models.
  • Understanding of ML accelerations and architectures.
  • Published and cited research in ACM, NeurIPS, ICCV, NAACL, or other notable professional conferences.
  • Experience with recommendation technologies and search specific criteria.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
