We are seeking a Pastry Cook who is able to bake cakes, general pastries, petite desserts, etc., in a fast-paced, high-volume commissary setting. The ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented self-starter who is creative, has great time management skills, is able to take direction and feedback well, and has a willingness to grow and learn with our pastry arts division
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the pastry division in our commissary that are in line with Company standards and recipes.
- Execute the mass production of royal icing cookies and French macarons orders independently.
- Prepare all required pastry recipes as instructed, following the menus, recipes, guidelines & methods provided.
- Complete basic pastry art tasks such as using piping bags, preparing icings, molds, etc.; including the preparation of basic doughs.
- Monitor the cleaning, handling, and storage of all pastry equipment and supplies.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures.
- Assist in plating and in the presentation of desserts.
- Participate in team meetings as directed by the Executive Pastry Chef.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of pastry stations during tastings.
- Help manage waste and recycling in the kitchen.
- Support other kitchen staff as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and techniques.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with Company sanitation and food safety handling practices and regulations.
- Able to work in any section of the Pastry Department and demonstrate methods and recipes to subordinates.
- Produce and maintain the expected level of food quality in any assigned area and according to instructions from the Executive Pastry Chef.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by the Executive Pastry Chef.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pastry Arts Degree preferred but not required.
- At least three years of previous experience working in a bakery or pastry kitchen or related setting.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays at least 4 days per week.
- Be able to perform basic math skills for measuring ingredients.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Creativity and a passion for baking.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Reliable and punctual.

SCHEDULE:
Four or five days per week (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturdays) between the hours of 7a and 3:30p based on company need (with an average of 20 to 40 hours per week).
SALARY: Starting at $25 per hour

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
