We are seeking a Pastry Cook who is able to bake cakes, general pastries, petite desserts, etc., in a fast-paced, high-volume commissary setting. The ideal candidate would be a detail-oriented self-starter who is creative, has great time management skills, is able to take direction and feedback well, and has a willingness to grow and learn with our pastry arts division

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the day-to-day operations of the pastry division in our commissary that are in line with Company standards and recipes.
  2. Execute the mass production of royal icing cookies and French macarons orders independently.
  3. Prepare all required pastry recipes as instructed, following the menus, recipes, guidelines & methods provided.
  4. Complete basic pastry art tasks such as using piping bags, preparing icings, molds, etc.; including the preparation of basic doughs.
  5. Monitor the cleaning, handling, and storage of all pastry equipment and supplies.
  6. Monitor baking times and temperatures.
  7. Assist in plating and in the presentation of desserts.
  8. Participate in team meetings as directed by the Executive Pastry Chef.
  9. Assist in the setup and breakdown of pastry stations during tastings.
  10. Help manage waste and recycling in the kitchen.
  11. Support other kitchen staff as needed.
  12. Stay updated on industry trends and techniques.
  13. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with Company sanitation and food safety handling practices and regulations.
  14. Able to work in any section of the Pastry Department and demonstrate methods and recipes to subordinates.
  15. Produce and maintain the expected level of food quality in any assigned area and according to instructions from the Executive Pastry Chef.
  16. Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by the Executive Pastry Chef.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Pastry Arts Degree preferred but not required.
  2. At least three years of previous experience working in a bakery or pastry kitchen or related setting.
  3. Basic knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients.
  4. Ability to follow recipes accurately.
  5. Strong attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Good communication and teamwork skills.
  8. Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  9. Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  10. Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  11. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays at least 4 days per week.
  12. Be able to perform basic math skills for measuring ingredients.
  13. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  14. Creativity and a passion for baking.
  15. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  16. Good organizational skills.
  17. Ability to work under pressure.
  18. Reliable and punctual.
  19. Professional appearance and demeanor.
  20. Ability to take direction and constructive criticism.

SCHEDULE:

Four or five days per week (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturdays) between the hours of 7a and 3:30p based on company need (with an average of 20 to 40 hours per week).

SALARY: Starting at $25 per hour

Job Type: Part-time/Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
