Job Purpose

This position is responsible for conducting market research and in-depth analysis, gathering data, and providing insights and recommendations to support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within PS&T focused on the transition from ICE to BEV.  This includes:

  • Develop and implement market research to understand the current landscape of the automotive industry, including trends, customer insights, and regulatory developments related to BEVs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to gather input, align objectives, and facilitate the strategic planning process.
  • Ensure ongoing and monitoring the progress and effectiveness of strategic initiatives.

Beyond leading market research and consumer insights, this role will also be responsible for working directly with executive management to develop the division’s strategic plan as well as project management of the division’s special projects.

This position is critical for moving the PS&T division towards the BEV era and for ensuring customer satisfaction with our current/future BEV products and services. 
 

 Key Accountabilities

Market Research
Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate market dynamics and competitive landscape, and to identify potential risks/opportunities/emerging trends (emphasis on BEV).  Key responsibilities are:

  • Develop and implement market research plans using appropriate methodology to support business goals and objectives.
  • Provide insights/recommendations to PS&T executives.
  • Manage research budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure timely delivery of quality research.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that research findings are incorporated into product development, marketing, and business strategies.
  • Oversee vendors to ensure work reflects research best practices and business objectives
  • Stay current on industry trends (focus on BEV) and advancements in market research techniques to ensure that research methodologies are up-to-date and effective.

Strategic Planning
Collaborate with PS&T executives to gather input, align objectives, facilitate the strategic planning process, and formulate strategies to achieve those objectives.  Key responsibilities are: 

  • Work in conjunction with executives and key stakeholders to develop strategic plans and initiatives that align with the PS&T’s business goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of PS&T’s strategic plan.  This involves conducting meetings and/or workshops to gather insights and perspectives. 
  • Conduct market research and analysis to assess internal and external factors that may impact PS&T’s strategy, and to identify trends/opportunities/risks.
  • Develop, track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress towards of strategic initiatives.

Project Management
Lead PS&T special projects from initiation to completion while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with PS&T’s strategic goals and objectives.  Key responsibilities are:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans (including timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting), coordinate with project teams, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Track project progress and milestones, identify potential risks, and implement countermeasures.
  • Manage vendor & project budget and ensure cost control measurement are in place.
  • Implement plan using Honda Agile methodology

Associate Engagement and Training & Development
Lead initiatives that promote and enhance a positive and motivating working environment to foster productivity, satisfaction, and commitment among associates within PS&T.  Key responsibilities are:

  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs, and initiatives that align with the PS&T's goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular assessments and surveys to measure PS&T specific progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to Executives.
  • Develop and deliver (in conjunction with HR) training programs or workshops specific for the skills/career development of PS&T Associates (PS&T University)
  • Participate in the development and execution of associate events, such as team-building activities, company social, and volunteer activities
 Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • BA or BS degree in research or quantitative field (Psychology, Marketing, Business Administration, Social Science, Math, etc.)
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field is a plus
  • Prior job experience would be considered in lieu of degree
  • 7+ years experience with market research both qualitative and quantitative, preferably within the automotive industry
  • Experience in Project Management and Agile methodology
  • Strong market research skills to design and execute studies from start to finish
  • Robust data analysis skills to uncover the story and actionability from the data
  • Familiarity with various research methodologies and techniques (e.g., quantitative/qualitative, conjoint, segmentation) 
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology
  • Must be able to think critically and strategically, connecting information and insights to develop effective strategies
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with executives and project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficient in using statistical software packages or data analysis tools, Qualtrics, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
