San Francisco CA United States Climate Policy Radar Full time

As a product policy analyst, you will support our product offerings with a public policy perspective, serving as a bridge between our product team and the policy community. You will work cross-functionally to monitor and comply with global regulations; create written materials outlining our responsible product approach (e.g., policy briefs, white papers, and government filings); and support product deployment. The role is highly cross-functional and requires an ability to take initiative, work with diverse internal and external stakeholders, and execute in a fast-paced environment on our highest priorities.

About Anthropic

Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that’s working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our customers and for society as a whole. Our interdisciplinary team has experience across ML, physics, policy, business, and product.

Representative Projects:

  1. Ensure product compliance with priority policies, regulatory proposals, and guidelines in key global markets.
  2. Develop and publish policy papers, consultation responses, and other written materials articulating Anthropic’s approach to responsible product development and advancing our product policy positions.
  3. Shape and advance product policy positions (e.g., competition, risk management practices).
  4. Support policy partnerships and collaborations with governments, nonprofits, and/or academics to advance the use of product/Claude for socially beneficial uses.
  5. Engage with key policy stakeholders (e.g., via briefings, consultations, demos, roundtables, or by supporting senior-level engagements) to demonstrate Anthropic’s responsible product development, share the latest product research, and build/maintain trust.

You might be a good fit if you:

  1. Have 5+ years of public policy experience in tech, government, or both.
  2. Are adept at working with diverse cross-functional teams (including but not limited to trust and safety, legal, product, research, comms, and marketing).
  3. Are experienced in designing and advocating for concrete policy and regulatory proposals for consumer and/or enterprise tech products.
  4. Have experience briefing policymakers and government officials.
  5. Are an exceptional written and verbal communicator.
  6. Are an eager learner who enjoys thinking through policy and product implications of technical developments and industry trends.
  7. Have the ability to work independently and adeptly in fast-moving dynamic environments.
  8. Have demonstrated interest and experience in a complicated technical subject (ideally, AI, but other examples could be quantum computing, advanced cryptography, fusion power, etc.).
  9. Strong candidates may also:
  10. Have direct experience working in product policy (e.g., trust and safety, public policy, or related role/team).
  11. Have experience in AI/ML (generative AI a bonus).
  12. Have expertise in copyright, privacy, competition, or other related tech policy areas.
  13. Have experience developing and executing partnerships with civil society, academia, and/or government.

Annual Salary (USD)

The expected salary range for this position is $230k - $260k.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

Compensation and Benefits

Anthropic’s compensation package consists of three elements: salary, equity, and benefits. We are committed to pay fairness and aim for these three elements collectively to be highly competitive with market rates.

Equity - On top of this position's salary (listed above), equity will be a major component of the total compensation. We aim to offer higher-than-average equity compensation for a company of our size and communicate equity amounts at the time of offer issuance.
