Job Summary

As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the smooth operation of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Facilities, and EHS functions to meet internal and external demands, while maintaining a keen focus on safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee production schedule with Production Supervisor and Supply Chain team.
  • Coordinate manufacturing order of operations with internal and external resources.
  • Open and close manufacturing work orders, review and request materials requirements, review costs, analyze opportunities for cost improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Oversee building maintenance by managing third-party service providers.
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections of all building and service-related systems.
  • Verify completed work by vendors and contractors meet expectations.
  • Ensure the security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and manage site Maintenance/EH&S policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance related to Quality, EHS, Security, Dangerous Goods, etc. (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and local regulations.
  • Responsibilities may include occasional special project work and other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality for all aspects of the Operational functions.
  • Communicate with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting Operations.
  • Provide feedback to engineering to improve design, production efficiencies, and cost reduction.
  • Own workflow and inventory assets in the facility and ensure applicable processes are in place to ensure objectives are met.
  • Actively participate in the Engineering Change Control process to ensure design updates are reflected in work instructions and production activities.
  • Instill a culture of safety, and quality throughout the Operations team.

Direct Reports:

  • Production Technicians, Test Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, and Inventory/Supply Chain personnel

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience overseeing a manufacturing facility producing complex electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Strong Facilities and EHS background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of directly related experience managing production of highly technical products
  • Strong experience with lean manufacturing concepts
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed properly and on time
  • Able to effectively multi-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities

Preferred Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in start-up or growth company environments beneficial
  • Experience developing processes, policies, and systems from concept through execution
  • Experience scaling manufacturing operations to meet fluctuating demands

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a STEM related major
  • Technical Military Training from any service branch will meet this requirement if you can demonstrate relevance

Preferred Education Requirements:

  • Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering or a STEM related major
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
