*Job Description:*

The Radiologic Staff Technologist is responsible for providing healthcare services, including but not limited to applying X-ray energy, to assist in diagnosis and treatment. The technologist performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner, in accordance with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

*Responsibilities:*
* (20%) Patient Assessment: The Radiologic Technologist (RT) is responsible for gathering information to make an appropriate patient assessment, including corroborating patient clinical history from the patient’s pregnancy status, medical record, significant others, and healthcare providers, ensuring all information is available for use by a licensed practitioner. The RT reviews the patient’s medical record to verify the appropriateness of a specific examination or procedure, assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or patient history, and provides appropriate support and reassurance to patients who may feel anxious.
* (20%) Patient Education: Responsible for providing accurate explanations for tests at an appropriate time and level that both the patient and their caregiver can understand. The RT also provides education on the procedure, ensuring written consent is obtained and that the patient fully understands the risks, benefits, and alternatives. Clear guidance is provided on immediate aftercare and follow-up for results.
* (20%) Plan of Care: Develops a plan of care for each patient, including analyzing information obtained during the assessment phase. The RT adapts imaging and therapeutic procedures to enhance patient safety, comfort, and diagnostic quality. Additionally, the technologist assists licensed practitioners and practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
* (15%) Evaluation of Patient and Procedure: Evaluates each patient post-procedure to determine outcomes and assesses whether goals of the care plan were achieved. If exceptions occur, the RT develops a revised action plan and communicates it to the healthcare team.
* (10%) Safety and Environment of Care: Ensures safety by adhering to infection control standards and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, while also maintaining a clean and safe work area.
* (10%) Quality Improvement: Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, sharing ideas and attending required hospital and departmental training.
* (5%) Service Excellence: Provides exceptional service to enhance the patient experience, promoting good working relationships and communicating positively with patients, staff, and vendors.

*Requirements:*
* High school education, completion of an approved program of training by AART.
* Completion of basic CPR courses annually.
* Registered or Registry Eligible for AART.
* Must be a New York State licensed radiologic technologist.
* Continuing education through hospital in-service training and professional seminars or workshops.

*Complexity of Work:*

This role requires critical thinking skills, collaborative work with licensed and non-licensed professionals, clinical knowledge application, and the ability to make decisive judgments in emergent situations with minimal supervision.
