SummaryThe Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) provides clinical coordination and therapeutic interventions through assessment, coordination, referral, and interdisciplinary planning for high-risk populations. The Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern will treat patients by helping them develop skills and strategies to cope with and change their behavior, as well as promote mental well-being. Additionally, provides counseling and support to patients/families regarding adjustments to the disease process and illnesses. The Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern will provide mental health evaluations and ongoing therapy for Lee Health patients under the direct supervision of a Licensed Psychologist or a Licensed Mental Health Counselor qualified supervisor.
RequirementsEducation: Masters Degree in mental health counseling required.
Experience: 2 years of counseling work experience in medical or healthcare setting preferred.
Certification: N/A
License: Must meet requirements and be eligible for the Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern License.
Other: Upon completion of the two-year program, eligible RMHCI Interns should apply for vacant LMHC position within the Lee Health system. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Effective coping mechanisms. General computer skills and ability to effectively multi-task responsibilities.
