Join our dynamic IT team and be part of creating innovative technology solutions as a Principal Cloud Data Architect.  You’ll design, build, and maintain our cloud platforms for data and analytics technologies across the organization. This role requires strategic thinking to align with our business objectives and technology strategy, ensuring our data and analytics cloud technology footprint evolves and adapts.  This role will be hybrid if located in the Chicago, IL or Battle Creek, MI areas, otherwise the role can be remote.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Cloud Platform Strategy and Roadmap - Create a comprehensive plan that outlines the strategic direction and milestones for the organization’s cloud-based data and analytics initiatives. The roadmap ensures alignment with business goals and technological advancements.
  • Cloud Architecture and Implementation - Design and implement the cloud architecture, components, and technologies required to deliver best-in-class data and analytical capabilities.  Create and deploy a robust cloud infrastructure, selecting appropriate technologies and components to support advanced data analytics, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Data Security and Integration - Define and implement data security measures, including data access controls, encryption, and data masking.  You’ll focus on safeguarding data through stringent security protocols. Design architecture and integration patterns to ensure smooth, efficient, and secure data flows across platforms with the most optimal performance, storage, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and enable our cloud architecture accordingly.  Partner with IT security and data governance to ensure cohesive and secure data management practices.

We’re Looking for Someone With

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and integrating data, analytics, and cloud technology components as well as leading cloud platforms architecture/engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data platform technologies, including data ingestion, storage, processing, sharing, consumption, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in data warehouse design, analytics technology integrations, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  • Proficient in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and distributed storage systems.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and CI/CD, DevOps, and MLOps development processes.
  • Strong leadership skills to build business cases, secure resources, manage large projects and cross-functional teams, and influence senior level management and key stakeholders.
