The department is comprised of 109 beds, with the addition of a 19-bed ED Observation Unit. The ED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually. Hartford Hospital is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), which is recognized as one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. Our ED is also home to Life Star the state's first Critical Care helicopter service. Our Rock Star ED RN’s are the recipients of the prestigious National Lantern Award for Excellence in Nursing.Hartford Hospital doesn't just take great care of our patients; we take great care of our RNs too.
