About Permidia
Permidia builds software that checks construction plans against the local building code before they reach the city. Builders use it to catch problems before they submit, and building departments use it to give their reviewers a clear first pass, with the code section behind every issue. We're a small team.
What you'll do
- Build and ship across the whole product: a React and TypeScript web app, a Postgres database, and the backend services that process plan documents.
- Own the reliability of the document pipeline, from upload through analysis to a finished, cited report.
- Improve how we measure our own accuracy, and use those measurements to decide what ships.
- Turn feedback from builders and plan examiners into product changes, and see them through to production.
- Strengthen the habits our small engineering team works by: testing, code review, deployment, and documentation.
- Work with the rest of the team on priorities, tradeoffs, and the roadmap.
Who you are
- You've built and shipped a production web application on a small team, and kept it running afterward.
- You're comfortable across the stack. TypeScript, React, SQL, and cloud infrastructure are familiar ground.
- You like to measure before you decide, and you're honest about what the data does and doesn't show.
- You're curious about construction drawings and building codes. Experience with PDFs, OCR, or computer vision is a plus, not a requirement.
- You write clearly and enjoy working closely with people who aren't engineers.
- You're based in the United States and able to travel to Houston occasionally.

Compensation and location
- $150,000 to $190,000 base salary, depending on experience.
- Remote anywhere in the United States, or based in Houston, Texas.
