- Write production code every week across the storefront, backend, and front end, and carry a meaningful share of the team's delivery personally.
- Own the production portal end to end: uptime, page performance, checkout reliability, and defects that affect orders or conversion. Lead incident response and drive durable fixes rather than one-off patches.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for Bag Caddie stakeholders. Translate business requirements into technical scope, surface risks early, and commit to realistic delivery dates.
- Design the architecture that connects Shopify with Crane's systems: order, inventory, shipment, and tracking data flows, API contracts, and the backend services that support them.
- Build and customize the Shopify storefront and custom apps using Liquid, theme architecture, and the Shopify Admin, Storefront, and GraphQL APIs.
- Implement and maintain payment processing and credit card handling to tokenization and PCI standards.
- Build and lead the team: define hiring needs, interview and select engineers, onboard them, set expectations, give feedback, and run performance and career conversations. Scale the team up or down as the customer's roadmap requires.
- Set and uphold engineering standards for testing, code review, security, observability, secrets handling, feature-flag hygiene, and formal change management for production releases.
- Use storefront analytics (GA4, Shopify Analytics, heatmaps) to find conversion and usability problems, and prioritize fixes with the customer and product.
- Run the team's agile cadence: sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and release planning, with clear ownership for each piece of work.
- Partner with the Application Engineering, Client Integrations, and platform teams so the portal uses Crane's shared tooling and patterns instead of one-off solutions.
- Document system design, deployment procedures, and runbooks so the portal does not depend on any single person.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide extended coverage during customer peak sales periods.
- Other duties as assigned.
