ExxonMobil's affiliates in India

ExxonMobil's affiliates have offices in India in Bengaluru, Mumbai and the National Capital Region. ExxonMobil's affiliates in India supporting the Product Solutions business engage in the marketing, sales and distribution of performance as well as specialty products across chemicals and lubricants businesses. The India planning teams are also embedded with global business units for business planning and analytics.

ExxonMobil is currently looking for an experienced engineer in Bengaluru, Karnataka to provide Machinery Engineering technical leadership and expertise within the Bengaluru Technology Center – Surface Engineering team.

Key Expectations

The Leader will be responsible for driving best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in Machinery engineering. This role involves managing a team of experts, developing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of Machinery performance and reliability. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of and a proven track record in leadership and excellence in engineering.

  • Lead and inspire the TC Machinery team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Mentor and develop team members, identifying opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork.
  • Resolve conflicts and ensure a cohesive team dynamic, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and implement best practices, standards, and guidelines for Machinery engineering.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate engineering excellence into all aspects of operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to engineering teams across the organization.
  • Develop long-term strategies for the Centre of Excellence, aligning with the company's vision and goals.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of engineering practices and initiatives.
  • Regularly report on the TC Machinery activities and achievements to senior management.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of engineering staff.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of engineering excellence.
  • Foster a learning environment where team members are encouraged to pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Manage the budget and resources of the TC Machinery effectively.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the team to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely procurement of materials.
  • Provide Machinery engineering expertise to a variety of Upstream, Product Solutions (Downstream), Midstream sites and ExxonMobil projects worldwide.
  • Sustain ExxonMobil's culture of safety and support compliance with established safety management systems.
  • Participate in the development of company and industry standards.
  • Provide technical leadership / support throughout the development phase of projects from conceptual to final design / execution.
  • Provide effective interface with manufacturing sites, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.
  • Guide the team in development scope of work for conceptual studies, develop technical specifications, assist in contractor selection, and assure quality control of contractor's work throughout project execution.
  • Lead the TC team in development of company / industry standards. Interpret and explain company practices and industry standards and how they apply to ongoing operation of facilities and projects.
  • Lead the Team in vendor qualification and Factory acceptance tests to qualify Machinery.
  • Mentor and develop team members by sharing technical expertise on Machinery engineering functional and Leadership behavioral skills.
  • Provide interface with business units, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.
  • This position requires domestic and international travel.
  • This position requires work hour flexibility to enable interface with international business units.
About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • B.S. / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • M.B.A or any other additional leadership courses are preferable but not mandatory.
  • Required extensive experience (minimum 20 years) as Machinery Engineer & Leader for a major national or international oil & gas company.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the design, maintenance, and operations of oil & gas, Refinery or petrochemical Machinery.
  • Previous engineering leadership position at an oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical facility.
  • Previous technical position as a Lead on a major capital project (> $1G) with responsibility over Machinery engineering.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with technical experts within and outside the company, as well as ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Should have leadership experience in a major O&G company in India or abroad.
  • Required work experience outside India, as well as experience working with global teams and different cultures.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
  • Prior role as a designated technical leader (e.g. Technical Lead, Technical Authority, Principal Engineer, etc.) in the areas mentioned above, for a major national/international oil & gas company.
  • Prior experience in engaging externally with international industry committees and partners.
  • Good network, relationships and ability to influence various Machinery Equipment OEMs across the globe and Machinery engineering service providers.
