Behavioral Medicine Center: Outpatient Services (Part Time, Day Shift) -

The Outpatient Psychotherapist demonstrates advanced clinical, problem solving and crisis intervention skills. Serves as a resource to other clinical therapists and the multi-disciplinary team members. Conducts clinical services, participates in case management, discharge planning, and intervenes in high-risk situations. The Outpatient Psychotherapist complies with all legal and regulatory reporting requirements, interventions, documentation and referrals. The Outpatient Psychotherapist collaborates with the treatment team, collateral contacts and community agencies to deliver the highest quality patient care services. The Outpatient Psychotherapist works within the scope of designated state license to provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed staff. If in a recovery program, at least two years of sobriety is required for staff and at least five years for Management. Performs other duties as needed.



Completion of a master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling related field, or completion of a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in clinical psychology is required. A current BBS license is required. A minimum of two years of experience in a behavioral health care setting is required. A minimum of two years of experience in an acute psychiatric facility with age specific population is preferred. MFT, LPCC, Psychologist or LCSW license is required.

Knowledge of psychotherapy theory and techniques. Able to identify the need for supervision and consultation, utilize such appropriately, and accept direction. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, online capability (telehealth) and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; Diffuse aggravated situations with patients and families; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person, via a computer and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.
