The Safety Coordinator will support activities to strengthen the culture of safety with the goal of prevention in the Fleet Farm Distribution Center. This role helps develop policies and procedures to promote occupational health and safety awareness. The coordinator will build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, operations stakeholders, and production teams to support the overall operations within the Distribution Center. Perform site safety inspections, monitoring and reporting on safety issues, mitigation and compliance.

Essential Job Functions The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  1. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement through training and sharing of lessons learned. Participates in development and delivery of formal education programs to support the distribution center operations.
  2. Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs and ensure compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met.
  3. Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment.
  4. Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees.
  5. Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
  6. Assist the investigation of accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective/preventative measures. Keep records of safety-related incidents.
  7. Intervene in unsafe activities or operations while walking the production floor
  8. Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree in safety from an accredited institution or equivalent years of experience as a safety professional. 
  • Two years’ experience in managing regulatory compliance in OSHA or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to act decisively in implementing solutions
  • Ability to multi-task; ability to respond flexibly in quickly changing environment.
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
