Advocate Health seeks a Lead Data Developer for the new Advocate National Center for Health Equity (ANCHE). Advocate Health strives to be a catalyst for meaningful, positive change in all the communities it serves. ANCHE will harness the full resources of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, to address the root causes of health disparities by: co-creating transformative interventions and technologies with clinicians; developing and disseminating information, tools, and best practices to improve health equity in communities that Advocate Health serves; and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to advance Advocate Health's mission to provide equitable health and health care for all.

The Lead Data Developer will provide leadership and support in the development, maintenance, and administration of data management processes; query and reporting tools; and analytical applications. Analyzes data systems and decision support business requirements and associated source systems to design and develop the application architecture and data management architecture. Handles the detailed design specification development, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation associated with implementing and maintaining the analytical applications and data management processes. Works in collaboration with ANCHE Impact Evaluation, Health Equity Analytics and other teams to ensure access, quality, and completeness of data needs in fulfillment of ANCHE's strategic priorities and commitments across the Advocate Health enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

* Establishes the data management architecture through an analysis of business requirements, source system data, and source system application architectures. Confers with peers to evaluate and approve technical architecture and to define the optimal location and configuration of extract, transformation, and load routines.

* Provides support and evaluation of builds, unit tests, integration tests, system interfaces, extract transformation, load and integration processes, and associated reports.

* Demonstrates ability to identify and understand business impact of decisions made to fulfill customer expectations.

* Provides leadership for establishing goals and architecture of information systems.

* Serves as liaison for automated reporting systems and ad HOC reports.

* Documents data classifications, data definitions, and data relationships; updates the metadata repository with this information.

* Develops work plans, estimated tasks, and provides budget input for items related to the development of data management processes and analytical applications. Provides leadership determining project scope.

* Develops and implements administrative policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and stability of the analytical applications, data management processes, and the information generated from the applications.

* Plans and manages system tests, customer acceptance tests, and performance test efforts. Establishes testing procedures. Coordinates the execution of such tests and the resolution of any issues, escalating to management when appropriate.

* Participates in the development of ANCHE Health Equity goals & objectives. Provides support for organizational growth and operational improvement.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Required

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities

* 5 years' experience in healthcare planning, operations, or managed care is preferred. 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting data systems/decision support systems also preferred.

* Strong interpersonal relationship and presentation skills necessary.

* Demonstrated strong skills required in the following: Problem solving in a complex systems environment, strategic communications and project planning, written and oral communication, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and ability to work effectively and drive consensus amid diverse stakeholders.

* Must have high proficiency using computer software tools and working with databases required.

* Expertise in functional systems is strongly preferred.
