Echocardiography Tech

Under direct and indirect supervision, according to established policies and procedures, performs routine echocardiography examinations and performs and provides preliminary interpretation of studies performed. Examinations performed may include, but are not limited to, trans-thoracic echocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiograms, stress and contrast echocardiograms (utilizing commercially prepared contrast agents). Receives training and instruction in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound procedures in which skills cannot be demonstrated and documented.

Education:

Graduate of an approved program of echocardiography non-invasive cardiovascular technology or equivalent education and training.

Experience:

Must have experience as required for registry in echocardiography by either the American registry of Diagnostic Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill in the performance of trans-thoracic contrast echocardiograms. Experience in placing intravenous lines and administration of IV medications is desirable. Experience in EKG interpretation and cardiac and vascular stress testing is preferred.

If New Graduate must get registry within 1 year of hire.

Licenses/Certificates:

Registered as a Cardiac Sonographer by either American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiac Credentialing International.

New Graduate must be registered within 6 months of hire. Must obtain by 1/31/2022

BLS certification required

Working Conditions:

Under certain conditions, may be exposed to blood and/or body fluids or potentially infective materials. Requires constant hearing, speaking, vision and repetitive hand movement. Requires attention to detail despite frequent interruptions.
