New York, United States Columbia University Full time

Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) is searching for an outstanding physician-scientist to assume the role of Chief of the Division of Pediatric Clinical Genetics. This is a remarkable opportunity for a nationally distinguished leader with a strong track record of scientific accomplishment and leadership. Dependent upon the candidate's experience, vision and aspirations, formal opportunities in genetics outside of the Division's leadership are available. At a minimum, close coordination with Columbia University's Precision Medicine initiative, the Precision Genomics Laboratory in Pathology performing genetic testing, Columbia's Department of Genetics and Development, and the NY Genome Center are anticipated.

VP&S, Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital (MSCH) work in tandem to provide world-class pediatric care and propel scientific discovery and education. VP&S boasts a faculty of over 2,100 individuals, strong educational programs and a research mission that is accompanied by a track-record of success, with over $530 million in NIH funding in FY2022. CUIMC combines the resources of a leading research institution with the compassionate care of a U.S News & World Report Honor Roll hospital. Pediatric care is supported by MSCH, a 269-bed Level 1 trauma center that provides care to an incredibly diverse patient population. MSCH is the top-ranked Children's Hospital in New York and is ranked in all ten pediatric specialties by U.S News & World Report.

The Division of Clinical Genetics, located within the Department of Pediatrics at VP&S, the top ranked medical school pediatric program in the tristate region and one of the top in the US, has been recognized as one of the leading Clinical Genetics programs in the United States. The Division is staffed by 6 distinguished faculty members who offer exceptional clinical care, innovative scientific research and comprehensive educational programs for students and trainees.

The Division Chief of Clinical Genetics will oversee all aspects of Division activities from research, educational, operational and financial perspectives. He/she will be expected to conduct their own research program and to grow the Division's research portfolio by expanding existing programs and by recruitment of additional faculty with particular expertise in molecular genetics, gene and cell-based therapeutics. The incumbent will collaborate with existing Departmental and extensive institutional research and clinical resources that are important in the context of growing reliance on genomics, molecular diagnostics and therapeutics. The individual should have an interest in "N-of-1" clinical situations and customized genetic interventions will take advantage of these resources.
