The Role:
Sets up and operates machines and machining centers to fabricate parts; fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.

Responsibilities:
Verifies conformance of processes or work piece to specifications.
Measures, marks, and scribe's dimensions and reference points on material or work piece.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measurements, including micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM.
Works individually and as a team.
Conducts tests and inspections of products, examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications.
